Excellent soil coverage:
- Vegetative growth at the end of the winter is limited as the varieties are dormant and do not compete with the main crop.
- The winter hardiness of both varieties as well as LUZELLE specific growth habit allow a persistent soil coverage.
- Alfalfa is a crop known for its soil fertility improvement ability, thanks to its powerfull taproot system and its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen.
Ideal mixture to grow alfalfa in cold areas:
- Both varieties are highly winter dormant and resistant to cold allowing a good persistency even in harsh climatic conditions.
- CATERA secures yields as it is a productive and diseases resistant variety
- LUZELLE has a different growth habit which makes it very complementary with CATERA.
- LUZELLE supports the forage quality as it is very leafy with thin stems.
- Grazing is possible as LUZELLE has a good trampling resistance.
